The University of Murcia (UMU) offers members of the university community 44 plots on the campus of Espinardo (28 next to the Plaza of Sustainability and 16 in the vicinity of the Faculty of Medicine) for the practice of organic farming.
Orchards, about 20 square meters, allow to carry out the characteristics of organic farming techniques, under the supervision of professor and director of the project, José María Egea, who will provide the necessary guidance to develop the activity properly.
The award of such contracts for two growing seasons, is made by drawing lots, those interested can apply at the http://www.um.es/web/campussostenible website.
The initiative is part of the activities of the Sustainable Campus project, which seeks to raise awareness UMU the university community on preserving the environment and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Sustainable Campus, under the Vice President of Economy, Sustainability and Health Sciences, last year enabled 18 new rooms and a space for organic farming that is managed collectively by the university.
The focus of the UMU by agroecology has been recognized with the recent award of the Sustainable Development Award Murcia.
