Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, the Moroccan diplomat Fathallah Sijilmassi, expressed his support for the Campus Mare Nostrum (CMN), which is promoted by the University of Murcia (UMU) and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and last year won the renewal of the stamp of excellence.
During a meeting in the building of convalescence, home of the Rector of the University of Murcia, Sijilmassi, which was widely reported pregnancy CMN and major activities since its adoption in 2010, stressed that the way it is designed It allows the use of synergies between the two public universities.
For the secretary general of that organization, this campus of excellence "is an interesting model" and has promised his return to Murcia to visit the UPCT and offer some ideas that could be implemented for their empowerment.
During the meeting, both the Vice Chancellor for Coordination and internationalization of the UMU, Bernardo Cascales, as the coordinator of the Campus, Pilar Garrido, have exposed Sijilmassi major projects that are currently working, and include the implementation of the Chair of the Environment CMN, driven by the Port Authority of Cartagena, scientists campus summer and the International University of the Sea
Meanwhile, Cascales also highlighted the project granted by the Ministry of Education, with a budget of 240,860 euros for actions to strengthen excellence.
At the meeting they have also intervened the director general of Universities, Juan Monzó;
the Vice Chancellor of the UPCT Jose Manuel Ferrandez, and rectors of both universities, and Jose Alejandro Diaz Orihuela.
The latter suggestion has been proposed as the possibility of converting the University of the Sea International University of the Mediterranean, thus taking advantage of the geographical location of the region and its great potential.
