The family and social environment affects the response of battered women and the adoption of measures that might be taken out of this situation, as reflected in the conclusions of the doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia (UMU ) by Marina del Carmen Garcia Tourne.
The study, which has obtained the qualification of outstanding cum laude, states that the own family and foreign family were fundamental for women who were interviewed for the realization of it, both for what they did and for what it omitted.
It also notes that many hid their families mistreatment of those who were victims, "and therefore could not be helpful before the break, although they served during the separation and subsequent process, moments of danger to women" .
The findings suggest that when he intervened political family, his performance was negative, "almost always".
The research has also found that the views and actions of the environment battered "were key."
He adds that "if your opinion is favorable to maintain the relationship, she extends her silence and suffering, thus increasing isolation and guilt."
On the contrary, if the relatives are critical of abuse, they allow you to become aware of their situation before, besides reducing the guilt.
The dissertation was directed by professor Alberto Torres Cantero UMU.
