Protection of the rights of invention of researchers has been the central theme of the day which has organized today the University of Murcia (UMU) in the events of World Intellectual Property Day, to be held on April 26.
In the workshops of the day, developed at the Faculty of Information Technology, the papers have addressed the intellectual property rights in the field of new technologies and issues of industrial design and Information Technology Services of the Spanish Patent Office and Trademarks.
Then it was held a symposium which have been resolved queries related to the new patent law and on how to record the results of research and offenses against intellectual property (crime, kidnapping, illegal downloads and actions responsibility).
The secretary general of the Ministry of Education and Universities, Marcos Manuel Sanchez, praised during the opening ceremony, who chaired the rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, the meeting, "pioneer at regional level" has been said, not limit the authors but "also covers the intellectual capital in a broad sense".
The rector, for his part, has highlighted the value of the transfer and the leading role to be played by universities in this "revolution we live in the knowledge-based economy."
The event has been promoted by the Transfer Office Results (TTO), under the Vice President Transfer, Entrepreneurship and Employment, whose owner, Professor Francisca Thomas, participated in the inauguration.
