The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, will attend this afternoon at the opening of the exhibition 'Don Quixote' Murcia craftsman Juan Manuel Grin, a show that recreates terracotta figures the work of Miguel de Cervantes, organized within the commemoration of the fourth centenary of the death of this genius of world literature.
To celebrate this anniversary, the mayor announced today that "the City Council, are organizing a series of cultural and recreational activities for all ages, designed to pay tribute to the greatest figure that has given the Spanish language, whose relationship with Murcia was reflected in passages and immortal characters of his work. Knights, servants, priests, people who go to the galleys, Christians, Jews, Arabs ... A deep humanity is what unites and connects all the characters together.

In this sense, the mayor recalled that "this tribute to the city of Murcia to Cervantes matches the commemoration of the 750th anniversary of the granting of the Charter of Seville and the constitution of the Council, by Alfonso X the Wise, whose reign marked an example plurality and coexistence where Christians, Jews and Muslims coexisted in peace. "
Storyteller 'Quijote vs Romeo'
The exhibition 'Don Quixote', which has helped the City Council, can be seen until May 14 at the ground floor of the shopping center El Corte Ingles and Hipercor El Tiro.
In addition, to mark the day of the book, the Department of Social Rights has organized a series-educational recreational activities among which we find a storyteller entitled 'Quijote vs Romeo', with which it is intended to introduce children to the concepts literature of Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare, this year coinciding with the fourth centenary of the death of both.
The Storyteller can be enjoyed in three different sessions and days 20, 22 and 28 April, at 16.30, on the ground floor of the mall, next to the exhibition.
