Teachers Santiago Redondo (University of Barcelona), Vicente Garrido (University of Valencia), Lorenzo Morillas (University of Granada), Enrique Echeburúa (University of the Basque Country), Adrian Raine (University of Pennsylvania) or juvenile judge Emilio Calatayud are some of the participants in the Second International Congress of Criminology, held until Friday in the auditorium of the University of Murcia (UMU) speakers.
Organized by the Faculty of Law and the Department of Legal History and Criminal and Criminological Sciences UMU, Congress collect, from an interdisciplinary point of view (Law, Psychology, Forensic Science), the latest techniques and means used to level national and international in the criminological field.
Among the activities planned, there is provided a round table in which members of the National Police, Civil Guard and Ertzaintza will discuss the forensic aspects of the criminal investigation.
The rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, said today at the opening that the criminal sciences are a fundamental matter not only for the study of criminal law but also for coexistence.
Orihuela recalled that the University of Murcia pioneered the introduction of Bachelor of Criminology.
In the opening ceremony they have also participated the director of that department, Jaime Peris;
the managing director of the Seneca Foundation, Antonio González, sponsor of the congress;
the coordinator of the Campus of Excellence Mare Nostrum (CMN), Pilar Garrido, partner in organizing the event, and the professor and member of the organizing committee Samuel Rodriguez.
Also, the rector has opened the exhibition "Criminal Art" which has assembled in the auditorium of the cultural association "There's a tiger behind you", which will remain in it until 22 April.
