The Socialist Group Municipal Councillor, Maite Espinosa, Wednesday denounced the inaction of the City of Murcia to solving the problem arisen with the suspension of consultations podiatry in Senior Centers.
Espinosa recalled that, following the suspension of this service, the Socialist Group presented a motion to the full council on January 28 requesting the continuation of these consultations, an initiative that was approved unanimously by the municipal groups.
"The greatest of our municipality have been attended by specialists in podiatry directly in senior centers for years. It is a very demanding and necessary service, users have continued to claim since stopped paying," stated the PSOE mayor, who added that, for the provision of this service, many of the centers had adequate facilities.
"The Department of Social Rights and Health should solve this problem immediately. There is full agreement that has not been given compliance after three months of waiting. Our seniors do not want or need to wait to retrieve a service, for most, it is very necessary, "insisted the Councillor of the Socialist Group.
The mayor also said that in some cases the economic situation of users, "who are pensioners," it does not allow them to attend private practice podiatrist.
"The largest of the municipality of Murcia and face the copayment for medicines and other health care services, in many cases pay for a consultation podiatry is not available to everyone. To this we must add that, in other cases, mobility users is limited, so you can not make long journeys. the solution is to restore service Podiatry in Senior Centers, which has been paying until a few months ago. "
"In senior centers in other cities of Spain, as Vitoria, Madrid, Castilla la Mancha and Valencia, this service is provided. We can not understand why Murcia should be different," he pointed out.
"Regardless of the reasons why consultations were suspended, should have it sought a solution to the legal or packaging of the centers, which will not happen in any case for removing a much needed service for the elderly in the municipality problems", has said Espinosa, who has concluded Ballesta demanding to "take up the matter so that the service is restored as soon as possible".
