The Municipal Socialist Group believes that punitive measures are not the solution to the problems caused by cyclists use sidewalks when traveling, especially when the municipality has not resolved the implementation of an adequate network of bike lanes.
This is considered Councilman Juan Vicente Larrosa, member of the Observatory of the Bicycle, for whom "should not penalize the rider to occupy the sidewalk when he is not given any alternative. We must meet the standards, of course, but there is also that areas which enable cyclists to circulate ".
According to the socialist mayor there is little police template "and is not acceptable to have to spend some of their work to only monitor violations of cyclists on sidewalks."
Larrosa indicates that the Councillor of Traffic, Maria Dolores Sanchez, reminds us that cyclists are not stupid and that they must respect the rules: do not go in the opposite direction, stopping at the stop sign.
"Clearly we know what the rules are. The problem is not that the problem is that they have lanes that run safely without disturbing pedestrians."
As for the municipal service bicycle hire, "which is a good initiative, before a network of bike lanes should have been created in the municipality. Finally, Juan Vicente Larrosa believes that "we must promote coexistence between the pedestrian and the cyclist, the cyclist and the driver, and generally among all road users.
