UCAM Catholic University of Murcia has recently formalized its adherence to the cluster of Smart Cities in the Region of Murcia, CitizeM, created last diciembre.Se is a non-profit association to promote cooperation between technology-based companies , universities and other knowledge centers and public institutions in order to promote efficiency, sustainability and livability of the municipalities in the region, through collaborative innovation.

Build 'smarter' cities through more efficient management of resources;

generate employment by improving the competitiveness of enterprises;

or promote business opportunities, encouraging the creation of new markets, products and services are some of the objectives that the agents involved working.

To this end, they have set up six working groups that initially promote and develop projects and initiatives focused on areas such as innovative public procurement;

Water and Circular Economy;

Industry 4.0, Intelligent Energy;

and Mobility and Transportation, among others.

The cluster already has numerous entities associated as Hidrogea, Hefame, Regenerate Levante, Alfatec Systems, Neosistec, Firmamed, Ingeniatic, Disfrimur, Biometric Vox, AI Talentum, Droiders, Cetec, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the Department of Information and Communications from the University of Murcia UCAM, the Professional Associations of Industrial Engineers (COIIRM), Telecommunications (COITERM), Roads, Channels and Ports (COICCP) and the European Business CEEIM and Innovación.A this group of companies technological base will be joining in the near future, those others interested in leading this initiative which, in the words of Javier Ybarra, director of concessions Hidrogea, is "a powerful herramientaparamejorar positioning companies in the sector, increasing productivity and promoting internationalization of the same ".

Catholic University, through the ITM Institute of Technology and the Polytechnic School of the institution is participating in defining the strategic plan of the cluster framework document detailing the objectives and lines of final action to be developed by each of the teams work, integrated by personnel of associates.
