The City Council is committed to promoting the use and enjoyment of the green areas of the municipality.

To do this, Murcia has joined the Spanish Association of Parks and Public Gardens.

The Department of Administration Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, led by José Guillén, has managed this addition to the association nonprofit concerning public green spaces in Spain, whose aim is to value the parks and gardens in the urban environment more institutional representation of the sector.

Among its objectives it is to promote the creation and maintenance of parks and gardens, encourage training in R & D, state the objective criteria for the preservation and creation of these spaces, leading forums of interest and demands of the sector and add value to the management professionals, parks and gardens in urban welfare.

According to Councilman Jose Guillen, "this platform seeks technical and use of parks and gardens knowing experiences of professionals and users of parks and gardens exchange."

Guillen added that "in this way are in direct contact with specialists in the field in Spain and we can learn new ways to manage green areas and urban trees".

In addition, Murcia boost its presence in the vivirlosparques initiative that can already be seen in the Garden of Floridablanca 360, highlighting its natural heritage.

Already part of the initiative vivirlosparques more than 20 municipalities, 11 companies, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities (FEMP), the Network of Smart Cities (RECI), SEO-Bird lfie, the College and Association of Forestry Engineers, the Association Business Landscape (ASEJA) and the Association of Profesionals dels Espais Verds de Catalunya (APEVC).
