The Governing Board approves the text of the cooperation agreement between the two administrations, which will soon sign the Mayor and President of the Regional Government.

The project to restore the archaeological site of San Esteban driving the City and the Autonomous Community fulfilled today another milestone with the approval by the Board of Governors of the collaboration agreement between the two administrations that includes joint actions for its implementation in value, so as to allow the city to have a space that can become a reference point first cultural and tourist level.
The agreement will soon be signed by the city mayor, José Ballesta, and the president of the Regional Government, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
To do so, the channels have been established to start the process leading to the implementation and enhancement of the site of the suburb of "Arrixaca New" and the recovery of the Plaza de San Esteban, which will lead to:
- The asset recovery, starting work holistically to allow the city and the region have a space to serve as a major reference in the field of culture and tourism.
- The recovery for the city, for full use and enjoyment of a citizen as emblematic as this square space, as well as its integration with the site itself and its urban environment.
To make it happen, the City Council is committed to execute four actions:
- Request the Autonomous Community on reassigning the urban space, according to the new asset management legal scope of the site and the future square, keeping the municipality, suppressing their condition to underground parking.
- Convene the development of technical specifications which allow, as soon as possible, tendering and contracting of the Master Plan of the Joint San Esteban.
This space includes both the archaeological site, including the delimitation of BIC, as integrated by the present palace and church monuments, completing the block to achieve integration and treatment of space of a comprehensive and appropriate manner.
To this end, a working group with a multidisciplinary technical objectives, open to society, transparent, sustainable and inclusive of the most representative social aspirations will be established.
In addition, the mission will make them compatible with the enhancement of reservoir recovery and space for public use, well integrated into an urban environment so important.

Their participation provides greater assurance yet that the process is carried out with the parameters of rigor and excellence necessary, with strict adherence to the guidelines of protection of historical heritage and dedication to restore the use and enjoyment of this space for public use and citizen, properly integrated into an urban environment such centrality and importance, as befits a project that is destined to be one of the most important taking place in Murcia in the coming years.
The process, which is being developed from its inception with an open, participatory and cross-cutting nature, continues with the preparation of the technical requisites and administrative provisions, with the aim of having the master plan before year-end.
