The Governing Council of the University of Murcia (UMU), which met today at the Faculty of Chemistry, has approved the academic calendar for the next academic year 2016/2017.
The first semester will start on September 16 and will last until December 23, while the second will run from 30 January 2017 to 19 May.
Corresponding to the call January exams will be from 9 to 28 of this month, the June session from 20 May to 13 June, and the call July 1 to 15 this month.
As for the evidence of access to public universities in the region, they will be held on 12, 14 and 15 September 2016, being the 13th holiday in Murcia for the pilgrimage of the Fuensanta.
The governing body has also approved the timetable for the elections for representatives of the group of students in the Faculty of the University, totaling 75 are governed.
The largest number of positions corresponding to those of the Faculty of Education, with ten, followed by those of Arts and Law, with eight each, and Economics and Business, with seven.
For the first time also they elect their representatives in the Senate students of the International Doctoral School, which three seats are allocated.
The Governing Council, on the other hand, has approved the call for aid to finance research groups for the current year, amounting to 750,000 euros.
As for the incorporation of the Business School at the University of Murcia, the rector, José Orihuela, has explained that it has signed a pre-assignment, in which a warranty clause is collected to avoid duplication with its patronage in offering master's programs with the Faculty of Economics and Business, but is waiting for a definitive answer to this center to decide what appropriate.
The governing body of the University has also been informed of the election official of this institution Justo Montoya as a representative of Administration and Services in the Social Council.
