With a cloistered procession in the cathedral I was beginning this morning the feast of St. Patrick, co-patron of the city of Murcia and patron of the local police.
The Bishop of Cartagena has presided over Eucharist in which he thanked the officers for their daily work.
Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes has recognized the work of the local police, because "you keep the treasure of healthy living in harmony, violence and disruptive forces of evil present in the world".
"You are called to protect the weak, to the honest and promote peaceful coexistence in this city.
Each of you has the mission to guard, to avoid danger and promoted everywhere as messengers justice and peace.
Defending it with their lives, "he added the bishop.
Mons. Lorca recalled the commitment that members of the police in Murcia have good defense, justice and freedom.
"You are working for a better world, a better society and peaceful coexistence," he said.
After the Mass, the celebration of this festival, which has been brought forward one day, continued with a ceremony at the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, which have been awarded several distinctions.
