The Commission Full Employment, Social Rights, Education and Culture, which met this morning, unanimously approved request UNICEF Spain the beginning of the process to obtain the stamp of recognition 'Friendly City Children', assuming that the commitment to collaboration with UNICEF Spanish Committee for the development, continuous improvement and innovation policies for children and adolescents in this county.
According to the head of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, "the childcare, protection and promotion, as an obligation of all government whose origin stems from the Convention on the Rights of the Child, recognizing children / as as subjects of law, and make States and adults holders the obligation to respect these rights and enforce them. "
In this context, the Program Friendly Cities for Children is part of an initiative by UNICEF Spanish Committee, which aims to encourage and promote the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in the field of local governments statewide Spanish.
Thus a Friendly City Children should guarantee the right of children to influence the decisions made in their municipality, express their opinion on the city they want, participate in his family, his community and in his social life, receive basic health services, access to clean water and proper sanitation, be protected from exploitation, have green spaces, live in a clean environment, participate in social events and be a citizen like others, with access to any service, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender or disability.
