MURCIA NOW denounced the poor state of many green areas in the municipality, both in neighborhoods and villages, the forgotten ones in the policies of the PP.
Councillor and spokesman of the municipal formation, Alicia Morales, said: "Now Murcia is talking to his vocal on municipal boards, so that those in supporting the headman, we submit reports on the state of green areas and the work that they receive, and in meetings where we do not support it, perform a similar study. "
Morales points out "that the City is paying the concessionaire, STV, millionaire numbers to keep in good condition the green areas of the municipality but, considering the state of the same, are not performing at all an adequate job, as many of these areas are abandoned so that neighbors are not even aware that the space in question is a garden. "
The Consistory has two contracts signed with STV four years, one of more than 30 million euros for gardens and woodland in the streets, and another of just over one million for the maintenance and upkeep of the medians and roundabouts.
"There are some amounts significant enough to require the company to comply in all areas of the municipality with the tasks for which they have been hired," explains the mayor.
In this sense, Morales points out that there are neighborhoods of the town whose green areas suffer particular neglect, such as La Paz and El Carmen, and districts as El Puntal, Espinardo Guadalupe or addition of new urban development areas.
Councilwoman recalled that the concessionaire of maintenance of these areas "is also responsible for the preservation of children's playgrounds and benches, elements that also are often in a poor condition."
Therefore, spokeswoman Now Murcia anticipates that "we will require the City Council to supervise the work of STV and stop being complacent with the company, so that the green areas around the city are the friendly spaces and care that neighbors deserve. "
