The highest percentages of child abuse occur at younger ages, under one year, according to the conclusions of the doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia by Pilar Madroñal Fernandez, who analyzes such cases recorded in Emergency Department Pediatrics hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca.
The findings of the study, which has obtained excellent cum laude, also point out that in the analyzed period 2014- -2007 to the most frequent type of abuse was physical and neglect, and the usual least emotional.
As for the distribution by sex of those affected, the percentages are very similar, being diagnosed most cases as mild.
Another conclusion of the work indicates that the number of cases of emotional abuse and sexual abuse increases with increasing age.
The doctoral thesis was supervised by professors at the University of Murcia Carmen Gomez and Cesar Carrillo and professor at the University of Granada José María Aguilar.
