The Minister of Culture and government spokesman, Noelia Arroyo, filed today with the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the carving of the Virgin of the Helpless, which has been restored to mark the 50th anniversary of National Radio in Murcia.
Noelia Arroyo explained that "those responsible for the Restoration Center of the Region have worked over six months in a complete and thorough restoration process that has restored all the wealth of this polychromed in mid twentieth century by the sculptor Valencia Ramon Granell, one of the most valued artists in the Valencian religious imagery. "
He also recalled that National Radio Murcia, then Radio Youth, received this image thanks to the work done to mobilize Murcia in support of the Valencians after severe floods of 1957.
The condition of the size was very poor, so it has been subjected to a thorough physical chemistry that has allowed remove dirt and clean rusty areas.
It has also rebuilt some elements missing and recovered the color gamut of size, which has been finalized protective varnish which will better preserve the image.
"The restoration of the statue of the Virgin of the Helpless to the long list of works that have been recovered thanks to the work done by technicians Restoration Center throughout its 18 years of existence adds" said Arroyo, who he recalled that "this is one of the centers with better technical equipment in Spain, which allows to realize one of the goals set by the regional government, as is the conservation and recovery of our rich historical and artistic heritage".
Also, National Radio of Spain in Murcia has given the work to the city of Murcia to the exhibit at the Museum of the City.
