A doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia by journalist Martin Gomez Paz has advised articulate a proper planning of the communication before the outbreak of health crises to avoid the alarm that these can have on the public.
This research, which has been rated as outstanding cum laude, analyzes in depth the crisis as a case of legionella occurred in Murcia in the summer of 2001 and had the same impact.
For this, the media coverage gave the newspaper La Verdad between days nine thirteen July that year is studied.
He indicates the author of the thesis that despite the clinical management of it was positive when registering a rate of very low mortality compared with other episodes of Legionnaires' disease, "the contradictory statements, information studs, data transmission erroneous information hiding and shot the perception of social risk. "
