The diagnosis, treatment and the severe consequences of tuberculosis in the fighting bulls are some of the issues considered by the veterinarian of the plaza de toros de Murcia Manuel Sanes for the doctoral thesis presented at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University Murcia.
Sanes, before a court presided over by Professor José María Vázquez Auton, has analyzed the difficulties encountered by farmers to eradicate tuberculosis and Paratuberculosis by the limitations of diagnostic methods.
The author of the thesis, with which it has obtained excellent cum laude, has indicated that another factor that also influences these difficulties are posed by wildlife, which is a reservoir of the disease.
Manuel Sanes, which has proved pessimistic about its eradication, has called for greater government attention and made a passionate defense of the bull for his "high genetic value."
Among the members of the tribunal that tried this research is the bullfighting critic and secretary of the Stud Book of Fighting Bulls, Adolfo Rodriguez, who has lamented that "not protected as it deserves a unique genetic heritage as is the toro bravo ".
The dissertation has been supervised by professors from the University of Murcia Juan Seva and Francisco José Pallares.
