Promote the cultural life of seniors through activities related to books and reading, promoting the creation of reading clubs in the Social Centres for the Elderly and group lending of books through the Traveling Suitcase is the goal of book clubs Social Centres for the Elderly.

Currently involved in the project Cultural Association of Teachers of Murcia, ACDOMUR, the University Volunteer Service, the Regional Library and the Department of Social Welfare, in addition to the Senior Centers.

Book clubs allow those involved in reading as they discover something enriching and enjoyable, to read more and better facilitate communication, to express and defend their own ideas, taking turns to speak, listen and value the opinions of others, etc..

Throughout this academic year 2009/2010 have worked the following book clubs which began in previous years:

- Fleet.

- Vista Alegre (It is the oldest).

- San Antonio.

- Bacons Bridge.

- San Andrés - San Antolin.

- Vistabella.

And they have launched two new clubs:

- The Open.

- La Cueva (Monteagudo).

These clubs are supported ACDOMUR volunteer, acting as facilitators and coordinators of them, usually meet one day a week to read a literary work collectively.

The average number of participants in each Club is about 12 people, with more than one hundred people participated in them them.

Noteworthy is the enthusiasm of the seniors involved in this activity and stability of the groups.

The closure of the reading clubs is held this year for the second time and has the following objectives:

"Recognizing the value and importance of clubs in the Senior Center, making for it an act of closing the course.

"To enable participants from different clubs come together, giving an overview of the activity.

"To provide a forum or act which match the different actors involved in the Club that recognizes and values the different units: Department of Social Welfare, through the Senior Section, CSM, Volunteers, Regional Library and University Service Volutanriado.

"Serve to other Senior Centers know the business and able to implement it raised in its center.
