La falta de proyecto y estrategia del actual equipo de gobierno se ejemplifica una vez más con el hecho de que dos meses después de que la Junta de Gobierno aprobara la concesión demanial al Ayuntamiento de los terrenos liberados por el soterramiento la coalición de izquierdas instalada en la Glorieta todavía no ha hecho nada y se limita a hacer anuncios para el futuro.

Conexión Sur representa el proyecto de más calado social y económico para Murcia del último siglo En la misma línea, el PP insta a los socialistas a que cesen su política de bloqueo a los proyectos de José Ballesta, máxime teniendo en consideración que Murcia Conexión Sur representa el plan más importante para el desarrollo y crecimiento social y económico de Murcia en el último siglo.
El proyecto de los populares apuesta por la peatonalización y la creación en el espacio liberado de un paseo peatonal que emule al de la avenida Alfonso X El Sabio.
De esta manera, entre Torre de Romo y Ronda Sur se articularía una zona destinada por completo a los barrios, que sería peatonal y con carril bici y que solo permitiría el paso motorizado a los residentes para acceder a los aparcamientos y al transporte público local.
La zona contaría con un carril integrado a cota cero.
La idea vista con los vecinos apunta a la constitución de uno de los espacios verdes y peatonales más representativos de Murcia, destinado a unir los barrios del Infante y Santiago el Mayor.
De la misma forma, el proyecto recoge este tipo de espacios destinados al ocio y disfrute de los ciudadanos en el trecho que separa Ronda Sur del puente de Tiñosa y en la prolongación del soterramiento desde el inicio de Barriomar hasta Nonduermas, favoreciendo la conexión con la huerta y con la senda verde de la Costera Sur.
