The spokesman of the municipal group, Ginés Ruiz Maciá, has registered this Wednesday an internal communication requesting explanations from the City Council about the non-payment of the cleaning workers of the municipal schools and urges the government team to "use the legal tools that allow it avoid that the workers continue without receiving their payroll ".
Ginés Ruiz Maciá and Luigi Carinci held a meeting this Wednesday with Encarna López, president of the TSI Levante works council to learn about the situation that the workers are going through, who are not charging for their work.
"We understand that the company does not pay the workers because it does not receive the money from the City Council, therefore, it is the council that has to solve this labor dispute," said Ruiz Maciá.
On February 8 and 9, 48 schools in the municipality of Murcia could be left without cleaning services due to a labor dispute that has as a backdrop the lack of competence of the Murcia City Council and the neglect of the Department of Education that has allowed get to this situation.
The workers of the STI company, which is in charge of cleaning 48 centers, are not collecting their payroll.
The reason is that the City Council does not pay the company.
These workers, who already have precarious employment situations, are being greatly affected by this situation and will go on strike next week if they do not receive their payroll.
Ruiz Maciá and Carinci have ensured that the City Council can resolve this conflict and "must stop throwing balls out because it is not just a question of a company and its workers since we are talking about an essential service, which is essential right now due to the pandemic" .
In this sense, the spokesman for the municipal group has indicated in the internal communication that the council can "recognize the debt of the services provided by the company since mid-September, by approving its payment" or "require the new winners that they take charge, by means of subrogation, of those rights already accrued by the workers ".
From Podemos they highlight the inability of the City Council to manage issues related to the pandemic.
"They have been in charge of two things, of reinforcing the vaccination campaign, and we already know how this matter is turning out, and of cleaning the schools, and they are not even paying for this.
They cannot boast of fighting COVID because already we are seeing how they do it, badly and with irregularities that must be explained.
" Ginés Ruiz Maciá also recalled that "it is becoming customary for this government to exhaust the deadlines for bidding, with the consequences that this entails.
For example, this, that the TSI Levante company is not making the payment of payroll ".
For the spokesman of the municipal group Podemos "The city council should not allow to go on strike, first because the workers have the right to receive their payroll, second because their disability cannot cause a serious problem for the health of the minors who go to the centers schoolchildren affected ".
