| Thanks to the collaboration agreement with the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, the itinerary will be marked from Sucina until La Fica | The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca PÃ © rez, participated this morning in a meeting by videoconference with the director of the Murcia Region Tourism Institute and representatives of the municipalities through which the Eurovelo cycling route will run 8. Eurovelo is a European network of 15 long-distance cycling routes promoted by the European Cycling Federation (ECF), and coordinated in Spain since 2017 by the Eurovelo National Coordination Center, of which the Regional Tourism Institute is part of Murcia (ITREM). Murcia will thus become part of the Mediterranean Route (Eurovelo 8), which connects Cádiz with Athens, crossing the coastal regions of the Mediterranean, in a route of 6,000 kilometers, of which 1,700 are by Spanish territory, almost 220 for the Region of Murcia and 43 for the municipality. The objective is to consolidate the municipality and the region as a cycling tourism destination. In accordance with the agreement, the complete marking of the route will be carried out by ITREM while the necessary conditioning or improvement actions on the roads will be carried out by the City Council in an urban area.
ITREM will undertake the improvements of the sections between municipalities far from urban areas. The route will run through the municipal area of ??Murcia Sucina, La Tercia, San Josà © de la Vega, Ronda Sur and the La Fica section. In this way, it seeks to promote the natural and cultural resources of the municipality through bicycle tourism.
