| This large plaza will have an area of ??6,000 square meters, which will connect the botanical garden, the Malecn promenade, the Carmen neighborhood, through the Manterola footbridge, and the Old Bridge | Murcia City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration led by Jos Guilln, takes a further step in the Murcia Ro project. The San Francisco Plan will become the great pedestrian square of Murcia Ro, with an area of ??6,000 square meters, located at the entrance to Murcia, which will connect the botanical garden, the Paseo del Malecn, the Carmen neighborhood through the Manterola footbridge, the Old Bridge and the margins of Murcia Ro.
These works, which have already begun, will complete a large green pedestrian axis, recovering spaces for all citizens. In this way, it will also allow a calming of traffic, reducing the speed of vehicles, facilitating pedestrian traffic with the consequent environmental benefits and reduction of pollution. Among the actions that will be carried out, the pavement will be unified, using the same as that of Murcia Ro to give continuity to the project and will install some wooden boxes that reproduce the letters the word Murcia, since this is one of the main entrances to the city. The design of the urban furniture is going to be unified, making the benches more comfortable to get more living areas, promoting outdoor recreational activities, facilitating rest during walks and inviting reflection in a naturalized environment. The works begin once the pertinent permits have been granted, as it is a BIC environment, by the General Directorate of Cultural Assets and a supervising archeologist responsible for the works has been assigned. "With this project we are recovering spaces for pedestrians, calming traffic and creating a new green pedestrian axis in the Plano de San Francisco, linking Murcia Ro and the Malecn with the city.
We are committed to pedestrianization and the improvement of the urban green infrastructures of our neighborhoods and districts, creating friendly and natural spaces that improve the health and quality of life of our neighbors through the improvement of the environment ", highlighted Jos Guillï ¿½n. Environments that are committed to the environment, improve health and promote outdoor sports activity The new gardens and green areas are designed and developed for mass use, making these green infrastructures spaces to accommodate hundreds of people and offer them a great variety of possibilities.
The living areas, children's games, natural spaces, bio-healthy and calisthenics areas, are some of the options available to the residents of Murcia. The gardens of the municipality have a massive presence of children, so they have to be friendly, safe spaces that reflect the environmental and socio-cultural values ??that we want to transmit to them. These spaces, in addition to being a clear commitment to improving the environment and reducing the carbon footprint, also improve health and promote outdoor sports activity.
The city of Murcia is becoming greener and more natural.
