The University of Murcia has organized within the program of the University of the Sea, a course to bring science closer to people over 50 years, to be held in Puerto Lumbreras from 12 to 16 July.
The town of Puerto Lumbreras, which thus becomes the first time at the summer courses at the University of Murcia, will host a conference that, through lectures and workshops, will familiarize students with healthy eating habits, with keys to improve memory on the problem of pollution, the potential of new technologies or the application of mathematics in everyday life, among others.
It has also been prepared, as indicated by the course director, Professor of Physics Antonio Guirao, a large number of recreational and cultural activities, including a tour of the facilities of the Plataforma Solar de Almeria in the desert of Tabernas- an astronomical observatory in Cabezo de la Jara, a field trip to Eagles and a closing concert of the year.
In the presentation of the course, held in convalescence, home of the Rector of the University, the director general of Universities and Scientific Policy of the Autonomous Community, Eduardo Osuna, congratulated the organizers for "the quality of the speakers and supply leisure activities will help the complex task of disseminating scientific knowledge. "
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, said the "quality, attractiveness and variety" of programming of the first summer course that hosts the site.
Pedro Antonio Sanchez announced that the conference will be held in the House Elves, a newly restored building in the historic center of Puerto Lumbreras.
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, welcomed the collaboration of the Council in this context of financial hardship and praised a course that involves expanding the group of students that addresses the educational institution.
The event was attended by various representatives of the Municipal Corporation and the University as the Vice Chancellor of University Extension, Francisco Guillermo Diaz, the director of the Universidad Internacional del Mar, Manuela Lopez.
