| The months with the most visits have been March, September and November | The municipal portal 'Murcia en Cifras', the information visualization tool of the La Asomada Observatory, dependent on the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, led by Mercedes Bernab , has registered in 2020 a total of 25,000 inquiries, which represents an increase of 20% over the previous year, with March, September and November being the months with the highest number of visits. It is a service aimed at citizens, social and economic agents, municipal technicians and students, whose utility is to offer information on the socioeconomic reality of the municipality.
“Visitors can learn about the evolution of the urban reality of the municipality of Murcia through the portal Murcia en Cifras , a portal that offers valuable information on the aspects that make up the urban context, such as competitiveness of the economic structure or social and environmental sustainability ”, highlighted the mayor. Likewise, the portal has a specific section in which the socioeconomic reality that exists in the districts is collected, providing information on unemployment data, economic activity or productive sectors of each of the population entities of the municipality. The districts monopolize the most consulted information The information most consulted in 2020 has been that referring to districts with 28% of the total visits, advanced statistics consultations have been around 20%, as well as the section on data around 17% curious, this being one of the sections where citizens spend the most time. Information requests from other municipal services Councilor Mercedes Bernab explains that, in addition to the visits received on the web, requests for information are also received, which largely come from the municipal services themselves. In this sense, this year 35% more has been received than in 2019.
The most requested information is that relating to the population structure, the evolution of the foreign population in the municipality and other type of information on socio-demographic issues in the districts of Murcia. In addition, inquiries have been received about occupation and employment, hiring, sectors of activity in general and specific sectors, such as agriculture or culture, where the most requested information refers to the evolution of the number of workers, the number of companies, cultural facilities, museum visitors, events held, evolution of indicators related to libraries, assets of cultural interest existing in the municipality and average expenditure per person and per household in leisure and culture. Very visual and carefully designed information The information contained in the 'Murcia in figures' portal is obtained, for the most part, from data from secondary sources.
In this way, the information is prepared and presented to the citizen with a careful design and a highly visual format, which provides added value through its statistical, mathematical treatment or the incorporation of graphic elements that facilitate their understanding and interpretation.
