| These actions, which are carried out periodically and intensify in view of the meteorological alert scheduled for tomorrow, consist of the removal of leaves and any type of residue found inside | The City Council, through the Parks and Gardens Service, is finalizing the cleaning work of thousands of scuppers located in the more than 3,000 green areas, parks and gardens, given the forecast of heavy rains, issued by the State Meteorological Agency ( AEMET) for tomorrow.Scuppers are the necessary drainage element to keep green spaces in good condition.
The technicians, who carry out this work periodically, intensify these tasks in light of the meteorological alert scheduled for tomorrow."We have proceeded to recheck the scuppers, especially in those areas where heavy rainfall can cause significant waterlogging, drainage and flooding," highlights the councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén.In this way, the Parks and Gardens service is cleaning the scuppers so that these facilities are in perfect condition.
The actions consist of eliminating the possible leaves, residues or earth that are inside and that could block them and thus they are prepared for any specific episode of rain. The scuppers are strategically located in the gardens so that rainwater enters through them thanks to the slopes of the green areas.
In this way, it is achieved that the water does not accumulate and is a problem for the thousands of neighbors and pedestrians who daily enjoy the green areas, parks and gardens of the municipality of Murcia.
