| The Murcia City Council and the Sustainable Development Foundation sign an agreement so that the planned educational activities can be carried out online as a consequence of the existing scenario due to the coronavirus pandemic | The Governing Board today approved the agreement signed between the Murcia City Council and the Sustainable Development Foundation, which will allow the educational activities of the My Cole Saves With Energy project to be carried out electronically, which will instill in students of Primary of 20 schools the importance of reducing polluting emissions for nature and the environment.The adaptation for the delivery of the contents of this project to the digital format is adopted so that schoolchildren can follow the contents from home as a result of the existing scenario due to the coronavirus pandemic.The Department of Sustainable Development and Huerta, headed by the mayor Antonio Navarro, has promoted this agreement and will participate jointly with the Sustainable Development Foundation in the planning of the project My Cole Saves With Energy.Close collaboration since 2016This new agreement represents the continuation of the activities started in 2016 between the Foundation and the City Council, advancing in the promotion of energy saving, the use of renewable energies, the compensation of the ecological footprint, education and environmental awareness and sustainable development.

implementing for this in the current school year new methodologies for their adaptation to the new scenario caused by the coronavirus.All this is specified in the project My Cole Saves with Energy, aimed at promoting savings, energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in schools through the awareness and participation of students, teachers and other agents who participate in the educational community, for learning issues related to electricity, water, consumption habits and energy saving and efficiency.The project will reinforce messages among the students that promote energy saving and efficiency in all areas of life.

It will also promote with minors reflection on the importance of reducing CO2 emissions associated with energy consumption, making visible its direct relationship with climate change, which is the main responsible for the destruction of ecosystems and wildlife, adding also the danger of zoonosis and the appearance of new viruses as threats to economic development and human well-being.Renewal of the web platformIn order to respond more effectively to the pedagogical and technical needs of the initiative in the new telematic environment from which teachers and students are going to work this course, a complete renovation of the project's web platform will be undertaken.A multidisciplinary team will be in charge of adequately supervising all the technical issues of the web platform.

Likewise, the energy controls and analyzes linked to the schools will be carried out and the pedagogical contents of the project and the educational incentives to be developed in the educational centers will be designed in a transversal manner.

The aforementioned team will also work to give greater visibility to the positive results of the project and the emissions saved by the municipality of Murcia with its implementation.It will also be a priority to start the selection processes, in coordination with the Department of Sustainable Development and Huerta, so that new schools can join the initiative in the 2021-2022 school year.
