| The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, visits the installation to check the works carried out and the new distribution of the sections dedicated to reading | The San Basilio Library resumes its service after the improvement works carried out to renovate and expand the spaces for children's, youth and adult literature.The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, visited the facilities this morning to check the status of the new distribution, whose actions had a cost of 15,344 euros."Our libraries are spaces for study, culture and literature that must guarantee the best services to users, so our work is constant and continuous to keep these spaces in perfect condition", highlighted the mayor.Specifically, the children's area, aimed at boys and girls between the ages of 0 and 13, has been relocated to the mezzanine floor of the building, thus leaving an exclusive space for the smallest public, allowing the expansion of the sections for literature juvenile and adult.For this, the balcony that communicated the rest of the space has been closed and an automatic door was installed at the start of the staircase that gives access to the mezzanine area.At the same time, the existing metal railing has been replaced by a self-supporting partition that will make it possible to acoustically isolate the children's area in order to make it possible to carry out activities with the users of this areaThe works have concluded with the assembly of the shelves and the relocation of books, records, films and other library holdings, in addition to the installation of LED-type lights in the youth and adult section.The San Basilio Library, dependent on the Murcia Municipal Library Network (RMBM), shares a building with the Puertas de Castilla Municipal Center, occupying part of the first floor.
