The Councilor for Culture and Recovery of Heritage, Jesús Pacheco, visited the Railway Museum this morning and held a meeting with representatives of the Murcian Association of Friends of the Railway and with the director of the Museum of Science and Water, Maribel Parra , in which the elaboration of an agreement between the Murcian Association of Friends of the Railroad, the Museum of Science and Water and the Museum of the Railroad of Madrid has been agreed that will allow cataloging and selecting the 1,600 guarded pieces and elaborating a museum project , through a thorough scientific process.This process of analysis is the one that will allow identifying the space needs and deciding which is the most convenient place for the location of the museum since the collection includes large-format elements that must be placed in outdoor areas, and other elements of inside.Likewise, it will work together with Adif so that the Railway Museum moves from its current location to its final location without having to temporarily move it anywhere.In this way, the request of this group is included that its collection, made up of more than 1,600 pieces, becomes a cultural and tourist attraction for the municipality.Councilor Jesús Pacheco has indicated that "this initiative seeks to recover the cultural and historical heritage of the municipality, this being one of the lines of action of the Murcia South Connection project."This association has 150 members who, altruistically, collect various objects and belongings related to the history of the railway such as models, clocks, oil lamps, a train-land system, ticket dispensers, telegraphs ..."The history and identity of the neighborhoods of South Connection has been marked by the railroad and the industrial development associated with this infrastructure and we want it to continue to be part of the future of this area, highlighting the cultural heritage of these neighborhoods in which it is they make up the Railway Museum itself, the structures of the gas boilers, the chimneys and water tanks, among others, which are part of the landscape of the area ", pointed out Pacheco.The councilor added that "South Connection is a great urban renewal project that will combine the avant-garde and the creation of new infrastructures with the empowerment of authentic neighborhoods that are in line with the identity and culture of the area."More than 70,000 neighbors will design their environmentThis action is part of the participatory process of the Murcia South Connection project that will allow citizens to transfer proposals to the plan and propose improvements that can be made in their territories.The more than 70,000 residents of these areas will be the protagonists and those in charge of transforming their own environment and they will do it through different mechanisms and tools.The first phase of this participatory process of South Connection, designed and structured around three axes -accessibility, transparency and scientific rigor- will run until December 16 and will lay its foundations on the principles of urban recovery and mobility, health and sustainability , environment, green spaces and connections, social structure, identity and culture, as well as trade and economic activity.The installation of more than 300 ballot boxes in shops will encourage participation in the neighborhoods and districts of the South, such as the districts and neighborhoods of El Carmen, San Pío X, Barriomar, Santiago el Mayor, El Progreso, Infante Juan Manuel, Patiño, Nonduermas and Los Dolores.
The neighbors will be able to go this week to the premises of their surroundings to make their contributions and give their opinion on the project.In addition, it is necessary to highlight the individual meetings that are already being carried out with representatives of the more than 150 groups that carry out their activity in the southern neighborhoods.
At the same time, participation will extend to schools with school activities and actions aimed at young people.The virtual agoras with the residents of the different towns will be held from November 25, as well as the neighborhood meetings, also scheduled for next week.
