An accessible guide for the elderly, migrants and people with intellectual disabilities promotes emotional and physical well-being in times of pandemic (17/11/2020)

| The manual "How we adapt to changes", prepared in easy reading, offers tips to overcome the ups and downs and stress that is causing Covid-19 in people's daily lives | The mayor of the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, presented this morning the guide "How we adapt to changes", together with the president of Plena Inclusión Región de Murcia, Joaquín Barberá; the representative of the Official College of Psychologists of the Region of Murcia, Jesús Leandro Pérez; and the coordinator of Social Action of the CajaMurcia Foundation, Cristina Abellán.This guide, prepared in easy reading to be accessible to all adult readers, especially the elderly, migrants and people with intellectual disabilities, is a manual to prevent and combat the stress and alterations that the pandemic is causing and promote emotional and physical well-being.Helpful tipsIt offers accessible strategies to cope with the changes and stressful events that are taking place in the daily lives of citizens, from home confinement to reduced contacts and social and family relationships and social distancing. "It is a manual on health and well-being issues with useful advice aimed at the adult population in general and accessible to all readers, especially those with comprehension difficulties or those who do not have the necessary resources to take care of their health ", has explained the councilor Paqui Pérez.From taking care of your thoughts, telling what happens to you and seeking professional help if necessary, to meeting schedules, resting and sleeping well, playing sports, learning to breathe, making decisions and interacting with others in a new context are some of the the guidelines that this guide offers to citizens so that they feel better and know how to combat stressful situations.The development of this guide has been possible thanks to the joint work that Plena Inclusión and the College of Psychologists have developed, following the easy methodology guidelines that include the review and validation of all content by people with intellectual disabilities specifically trained in accessibility.The guide is completely free, both in paper and electronic format."Any kind of help is good if we can improve the day-to-day life of the people who are experiencing the worst in such a difficult time," said the mayor of the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, who has shown her gratitude to Plena Inclusión , the College of Psychologists and the CajaMurcia Foundation "for their work and involvement in the development and dissemination of this help manual."
