In the 19th century, the architect Juan was commissioned to design the new Town Hall José Belmonte, which is why the City Council had to be provisionally transferred, between 1846 and 1847, to the Santo Domingo Convent while the works were being carried out.
In 1848 the current building was inaugurated, a neoclassical construction.“The students have walked the corridors and rooms of one of the most emblematic buildings in the city, the place where the most important decisions are made that affect the direction of the municipality.
It is a unique experience that allows boys and girls to enter history in a more direct and experiential way ”, Belén López highlighted. In addition to the visit, the students have complementary material in the 'Nuestro Ayuntamiento' classroom, which can be consulted and / or downloaded on the murciaeducadora.net portal, in the 'Publications' section. The visit has been adapted to the protocol established to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Thus, the tour has been carried out in two groups and the building has been accessed in a staggered manner, in addition to the rest of the measures, such as the safety distance, the use of a mask or the sanitization of hands with hydroalcoholic gel at the entrance and exit .# MurciaMiCiudadEnseña, adapted to Covid-19The City Council, through the Department of Early Childhood Education and Schools, develops each year the # MurciaMiCiudadEnseña program for children in Nursery, Primary, Secondary and High School. The Education Service is working on adapting the program to the situation of Covid-19, in accordance with current regulations and health requirements, giving priority to those actions that guarantee the safety of all students. Therefore, the indefinite opening of the registration period has been agreed in order to serve all centers, according to their needs and the evolution of the pandemic.
