| The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, visits the improvement works that are being carried out in this branch of the Murcia Municipal Library Network (RMBM) | The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, today visited the San Basilio Library where different improvement works are being carried out that will allow expanding those dedicated to reading for different ages.“These actions are aimed at improving the service we offer to our users and readers.
To this end, the children's area, aimed at boys and girls between 0 and 13 years old, will be located on the mezzanine floor of the building, thus leaving an exclusive space for the smallest public and allowing the expansion of the sections for youth literature and for adults ”, Mercedes Bernabé highlighted.The San Basilio Library, dependent on the Murcia Municipal Library Network (RMBM), shares a building with the Puertas de Castilla Municipal Center, occupying part of the first floor.
Currently this branch is closed due to these improvement works that will be completed throughout the month of November and involve an investment of 15,344 euros.Installation of an automatic doorSpecifically, the works contemplate the closing of the balcony that communicates it with the rest of the space and the installation of an automatic door at the start of the staircase that gives access to said area and that until now was occupied by the References Section, in which encyclopedias, yearbooks, atlases and other great works could be consulted.Likewise, it includes the dismantling of the existing metal railing where a self-supporting partition will be built that will acoustically isolate the area in order to enable activities with child users.Finally, the shelves will be assembled and the books, records, films and other library funds will be relocated.
Likewise, the lighting of the Youth / Adults Section will be reinforced thanks to the installation of LED-type luminaires.
