The City Council begins the process of consulting experts and interest groups for the preparation of the CSR strategy (15/10/2020)

The councilor for Urban Agenda, Mercedes Bernabé, presents the actions planned for the coming months on this document that "will allow us to work on the construction of a city that looks to the future and that observes economic and technological development with the utmost respect for nature.

, as well as the protection of the most vulnerable groups "The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, together with the director of the CSR Chair, Longinos Marín, presented this morning the actions planned for the next few months for the process of preparing the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy of the Murcia City Council.“Last July we presented the 2019 report, a document that sets out the actions carried out in the municipality and that reflects the commitment of the council to transform and build a city that looks to the future and that observes economic and technological development with the maximum respect for nature, as well as the protection of the most vulnerable groups ”, Mercedes Bernabé highlighted.The next step for the development of this strategy will be consulting experts and interest groups through the holding of workshops that, foreseeably, will be held in November with virtual agoras.

From there, the preparation of the draft will begin, which will be reviewed by the CSR working group, for later making it available to the public on the 'Participate in transparency' portal.After consultation, the proposals will be analyzed and added to the draft, which will be reviewed again and presented to the Social Council before its final edition.

During the term of the Strategy, the team of experts will follow a monitoring and evaluation process.The UMU is in charge of developing the City Council's CSR strategy, with a team made up of the director of the CSR Chair, Longinos Marín, the person in charge of the CSR project in public administrations of said chair, María Dolores Abellán, and Pedro J.

Good Governance.

It integrates the processes of transparency, dialogue and participation and administrative innovation in order to bring the administration closer to the citizen.2.

Economic and Responsible Management.

It incorporates transparency in economic management, fair and responsible contracting, service to the supplier and a commitment to the taxpayer.

 3.

Social Inclusion and Well-being.

Focused on reducing the risk of poverty and social exclusion, as well as promoting well-being and social cohesion among citizens.

Among the actions are proposals to improve the care of the elderly, to promote young people, promote healthy habits and promote the SDGs.4.

Environment.

Its objective is to promote sustainability and care for the environment with actions that promote adaptation measures to climate change, sustainable mobility, the circular economy and the garden. 5.

Cultural Model and Sustainable Tourism.

It is made up of actions aimed at the implementation of initiatives for the protection of heritage and traditions with sustainability criteria, as well as the promotion of art and culture.Murcia Río, Murcia Smart City, the Huerta Action Plan, the pedestrianization of urban spaces, the Mobility Plan, the creation of green routes and trails in the municipality, the rehabilitation and putting into use of the Old Prison, the Pavilions Creativos del Cuartel de Artillería and Medieval Murcia are some of the strategic projects promoted by the Murcia City Council that are based on the aforementioned axes.Framed in the Spanish Urban AgendaThe City Council's Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy is framed within the sustainable development policies integrated in the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda and aligned with objective 10 of the Spanish Urban Agenda, the purpose of which is to 'improve intervention instruments and governance'.For Mercedes Bernabé, "this action represents a further step in transparency, turning the City Council into a model to follow of good practices both at national and European level."
