The Department of Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism signs an agreement with Ucomur (29/09/2020)

The signing of the agreement was also attended by the General Director of Social Economy and Self-Employment, Andrés Alberto Álvarez de Cienfuegos; and Murcian chef Pablo González Conejero.The La Luz Business Essay School project is a commitment of the Department of Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism to work collaboratively with the different public and private agents in the creation of employment and in the promotion of entrepreneurship.

"We are convinced that only through the cooperation and union of all will we be able to overcome this crisis situation and generate the quality employment that our community demands of us," said Mayor Pedro García Rex.In fact, the agreement signed today arises from the collaboration of the municipal services of Employment and Tourism and the Union of Cooperatives of the Region of Murcia.

With the signing of this agreement, the Murcian consistory contributes 35,000 euros, gives the participants the facilities of the first floor of the Visitor Center of Light so that they can carry out their professional activity and offers the participants advice from the School of Hospitality. The purpose of this initiative is to professionalize unemployed people with an entrepreneurial spirit in the hotel and restaurant sector and increase their chances of business success, responding to the theoretical-practical training requirements posed by the challenge of creating a business short and medium term.The initiative is in line with the Murcia Tourism Development Operational Plan 2017-2020 to respond to the challenges that the municipality has to face in order to improve the competitiveness of the tourism sector and its positioning as a national and international destination.Requirements and deadlineParticipants must possess level 2 professional qualification in kitchen, bar-cafeteria or room services; or prove a minimum work experience of three years in these specialties.The admission period will be open until next October 2.

The information and applications can be downloaded from the Murcia Empleo website.LocationThe La Luz Business Essay School will be located in the municipal facilities of the La Luz Visitor Center, on the first floor of a modern and functional three-storey building, located in the El Valle y Carrascoy Regional Park.

This enclave will also promote the tourist use of the Network of Trails in the valley and the mountains, as well as the rest of the natural spaces of the municipality.Action planFor the development of the project, an Action Plan has been drawn up by people from the School of Hospitality of Murcia Employ, in collaboration with UCOMUR, the entity that will be responsible for the creation, supervision, management and financial control of the future cooperative, as well as well as the implementation of the training plan for potential entrepreneurs.Both the Murcia City Council and UCOMUR will actively collaborate in this type of training projects for entrepreneurship aimed at unemployed people who want to start a business in the hotel and restaurant sector."The agreement that we signed today allows us to pool knowledge, experience and strategies capable of generating business promotion and support projects, as well as the creation of jobs with various formulas for self-employment, especially in times of economic difficulty such as those that we are living ", highlighted the councilor Pedro García Rex.Other objectives pursued by this initiative is to collaborate in promoting gastronomic tourism as a generator of employment and enhancer of the products of the Region of Murcia, and to improve the employability of groups with difficulties in labor insertion, as well as to make the professions visible and value.

At the end of this period, the City Council will once again make an annual call and the Employment Service will be in charge of making the selection of the people who will join the project in successive calls.UCOMUR commitmentsFor its part, UCOMUR undertakes to create a cooperative with the participants selected to be part of the project, for which financial aid will be requested from the General Directorate of Social Economy and Self-Employment to finance social costs.

The entity will also be responsible for activating the Training Plan that will be complementary to the kitchen, dining room and customer service activities that will take place from Thursday to Sunday.The Training Plan has a total of 171 theoretical-practical hours, which will be taught on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, structured in an initial phase, to discover and learn about the project; an intermediate one, on knowledge and integral business management; and a last one dedicated exclusively to the cooperative project."This collaboration is essential for professionals who want to set up a business within this sector.
