The municipal group Podemos in the Murcia City Council will bring to the Plenary Session in September the change of name of Avenida Juan Carlos I.
"The information on the possible commissions received by the former Head of State put on the table a dubious exemplarity of which the Royal House itself has already taken action on the matter, "said Ginés Ruiz Maciá, spokesman for the group."The exemplary character of the emeritus king is in question and we believe that with the suspicions about possible irregularities in his behavior, which have led the former monarch to leave the country, he is not worthy of naming one of the main avenues of our municipality.
With this argument, the municipal group Podemos will propose to the Plenary that Juan Carlos I avenue change its name and be renamed 'Public Health', "in homage to the true heroes of this pandemic, those who have really risked their lives to save us to others ".
The arguments that support this withdrawal of name go by the fact that "the Royal House itself has repudiated the former monarch, motivating his flight from the country and Felipe VI renouncing the inheritance that would correspond to him from his father", explained Ginés Ruiz Maciá .In addition, the purple formation will take three more motions to the September plenary session.
Councilor Clara Martínez Baeza will speak again about Education.
Already in the plenary session in July, Podemos proposed to the municipal corporation measures to improve school environments in the face of the pandemic.
"They told us then that everything was under control and that we were alarmists.
We have seen how disastrous the return to school has been so we are forced to bring a motion on this matter again," explained Clara Martínez Baeza.
In this sense, Podemos will request a plan to guarantee hygiene in schools, a map of needs to make spaces available to the Ministry that can help reduce ratios,an agreement of the Department of Education with the AMPAS to promote the development of extracurricular activities and that this also urges Education to expand dining services in areas of greatest demand.Martínez Baeza will also take a motion to the Plenary to withdraw the subsidy to the Bullfighting School, punctuated by a scandal of sexual abuse.
"This event has caused an unprecedented commotion in our region." For this reason, and after learning that the Autonomous Community could also withdraw the subsidy that partially supports the maintenance of this school, "we will ask that the School of Bullfighting, which is also a place where animal abuse is encouraged, cannot attend future municipal calls ".Finally, it will be the spokesperson, Ginés Ruiz Maciá, who proposes to the municipal corporation that Murcia be declared as a host city for refugees.
"The fire in the Moria refugee camp has reminded us that we have hundreds of thousands of people crowded, abandoned and neglected.
We cannot turn our back on a reality that clashes head-on with the values ??of solidarity and cooperation with which we built Europe.
For this reason, our municipality, which claims to be welcoming, must assume its responsibility and urge the Government of the Nation to offer itself to welcome refugees.
" In this way, Ruiz Maciá explained, "Murcia must officially show its solidarity with the thousands of migrants and refugees affected by the fires that occurred in the Moria refugee camp ".
