The Murcia City Council today joins the demands of the cultural and events sector by lighting up the annex building in red. The Red Alert platform, made up of more than thirty associations, has called a large mobilization in different Spanish cities to warn of the current situation of these sectors. In this way, the City Council assumes the demands of the cultural sector that affect local entities and for this reason it is carrying out and will develop in the coming months an extensive cultural program in order to support this sector. It should be remembered that the Murcia City Council has recognized the importance of the cultural sector, being the first institution in Spain to declare Culture as an essential activity, on April 12.In addition, in full confinement, the City Council launched 'Reactivos Culturales', a program to support cultural production that has allowed to hire more than 500 artists from Murcia and other cities.
This initiative as a model of support for culture was recognized by Eurocities. This year, the City Council has promoted the largest cultural program in recent summers, with more than 100 activities in which more than 300 artists and 1,500 technicians and support personnel have worked.
