The Court of Honor will release a banner at the festival of the Virgen de la Fuensanta (11/09/2020)

This Sunday, the following to the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the solemnity of the Virgen de la Fuensanta, patron saint of the city of Murcia, is celebrated.

At 12:00 hours the solemn mass will take place, presided over by the Bishop of Cartagena, in the cathedral.

During the celebration, Bishop Lorca will bless the new banner of the Court of Honor of the Virgen de la Fuensanta.

The celebration can be followed through Popular Televisión Región de Murcia and TRECE.Regarding what would have been the day of the pilgrimage, next Tuesday September 15, although it was suspended months ago, the Cabildo has decided that, "because it is such an important day for Murcian", the cathedral will remain open uninterrupted from 7 in the morning to 9 at night.

In addition, the Mass schedule will be extended that day: 7:15, 8:30, 9:00, 10:00, presided over by the Bishop of Cartagena, Mons.

José Manuel Lorca; 11:00, presided over by the Archbishop Emeritus of Burgos, Mons.

Francisco Gil Hellín; 12:00, presided over by the auxiliary bishop, Mons.

Sebastián Chico Martínez; and there will also be a celebration at 1:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m.

and 7:30 p.m.From the Cabildo they remind the faithful that the maximum capacity of the cathedral at this time is 100 people and that they must remain at all times with the mask, removing it only to receive Communion.The new standard of the CourtIt is a piece made of Italian natural silk and silver tissue, hand embroidered in gold, silver and silks.

The image of the Virgin is represented with the mantle of her coronation and the ornamentation is inspired by baroque pieces of the cathedral's trousseau.

“An extraordinary work”, according to Francisco Alegría, director of the Cathedral Museum, which has been produced in the Malaga workshops of Sebastián Marchante.

The banner is raised on a rod, the work of the Cordoba goldsmith Jesús María Cosano, richly embossed with a silver and gold finish, and finished off with the anagram of Ave María, emblem of the Court.
