The committees of the cleaning companies of the Murcian schools have expressed to CCOO RM their concern about the lack of means and planning at this beginning of the year. The working people of Murcian schools assure "It cannot be that with the same working hours the cleaning to be carried out is doubled" that the Covid 19 requires. For the school cleaning company committees and the CCOO Construction and Services Federation, it is worrying that at this point the Murcia City Council has not provided the necessary means to guarantee the cleaning plan it is demanding. Given this lack of attention on the part of the City Council, the subcontracted companies for the cleaning of the schools have communicated to the workers that they do not have more means to carry out the cleaning than the Covid 19 requires, so they have been proposed to leave your working day, "if you came in the afternoon to work a day and clean a number of classrooms and square meters, with that same day you have to come in the morning, disinfect and clean toilets, taking into account the recommendations of the Ministry of Health".
According to the FCS of CCOO RM this approach supposes, on the one hand, splitting the working day having to make two trips and on the other, the hours that are dedicated in the morning to disinfect and clean toilets will be taken away from the cleaning of the rest of the school in the afternoon,Therefore, in the opinion of the CCOO, the necessary cleanliness in the classrooms or in the school structure cannot be guaranteed. The different complaints, which both the company committees and the CCOO union have raised to those in charge of the City Council, have always received the same response "that whatever can be done in the afternoon".
An answer that is surprising because it clashes with the statements of the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, who assured that they were going to put means to clean the schools, something that, for now, has not happened in any of the Murcian schools. Both from CCOO and from the company committees we understand that the attitude of the Murcian Consistory is irresponsible given that with the current measures dirt will accumulate and the main task to prevent Covid is cleaning.
This is why CCOO RM believes that part of the 74 million euros that the state government has allocated to education in the Region of Murcia should be for cleaning schools. The FCS of CCOO asks the Murcia City Council to comply with its work and with the word given by Mayor Ballesta and provide the workers of the municipality's school cleaning with the necessary means to keep the schools in perfect cleaning conditions .
"It cannot be that with the same working hours the cleaning to be carried out is doubled."
