The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has announced four contracts and five R&D grants for the development of the General Municipal Planning Plan (PGMO) of the Murcia City Council, a task coordinated by the UPCT Urban Research Laboratory.The works for the Murcia City Council will be carried out over the next two years.
The contracts and scholarships that have been announced are aimed at graduates and undergraduate or master's degree students in Architecture.The awardees of the scholarships and contracts will participate in research activities that allow establishing an analysis methodology for updating the PGMO of Murcia, developing a new urban model for the municipality in aspects such as the management of the Huerta, the incorporation of the municipal green infrastructure for planning, defining sustainability criteria, redefining land uses or updating the plan to the new regulatory framework.To achieve these objectives, the young researchers will analyze the urban activity of the municipality based on different data sources.
The works will require the realization of spatial analysis with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), processing with databases and preparation of georeferenced graphic urban documentation.
