Next Saturday, September 5, the novena will begin in honor of the Virgen de la Fuensanta, patron saint of the city of Murcia, and will end on the same day of its solemnity, Sunday, September 13.
Every day, at 6:45 p.m., the Rosary will be prayed with an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and at 7:30 p.m.
the Eucharist will take place.
The solemn Mass on the feast of Our Lady of Fuensanta will be on the 13th, at 12:00 hours, presided over by the Bishop of Cartagena, Mons.
José Manuel Lorca Planes, and broadcast by Popular Televisión Región de Murcia. The dean of the cathedral, Juan Tudela, recalls that the maximum capacity of the first temple of the Diocese is 200 people, respecting at all times the security measures established in this time of pandemic.
For the same reason, on the 13th the cloister procession with the Virgin that each year precedes the solemn Mass will not be held. With regard to the pilgrimage, scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, although it was suspended months ago, the Cabildo has decided that, "because it is such an important day for Murcians", the cathedral will remain open uninterruptedly from 7:00 a.m.
9:00 p.m.
In addition, the Mass schedule will be extended that day: 7:15, 8:30, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 18:30 and 19:30.
"As the holiday is maintained at the civil level and it is such an important day for all Murcians, we want them to be able to feel the closeness of Our Lady of Fuensanta, especially in this complicated time that we are living," explains the dean.
On that day, the doors of the cathedral will be marked to organize the entry and exit of the faithful "in an orderly manner", thus avoiding crowds.
