| These works are framed within the Smart City strategy in the area of ??Energy Efficiency, within the actions of the Maintenance Service of Public Lighting to modernize existing luminaires | The City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, led by José Guillén, continues with the modernization of public lighting in different streets and districts of the municipality, within the Murcia Smart City strategy.Thus, this week the lights have been renewed by other low-consumption ones on Juan Carlos I avenue in Los Martínez del Puerto."We continue with these actions that, in addition to contributing to the fight against climate change and cleaner air, provide more security to our avenues by making them more visible, both for pedestrians and drivers who pass through them," explains José Guillén.The City Council installs 5,000 led streetlights in Murcia in the last year, which will save 3.4 million euros and avoid the emission of 12 million kilos of CO2The Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration has renewed in the last year more than 5,000 points of light distributed in about 200 locations in Murcia and districts.The City Council has managed to reduce 658,000 W of installed power and avoiding the emission of 1,000,000 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere.
In this way, more than 285,000 euros have been saved in the last year.Thanks to the investment made, during the useful life of these facilities, which is 12 years, 12 million kilos of CO2 will be emitted and 3,420,000 euros will be saved."In this way, the Murcia City Council assumes its commitment to curbing climate change, improving the environment and the quality of the air we breathe.
