In this way, obstacles are eliminated on public roads, especially favoring the mobility of those with some type of disability.Specifically, 'ADN Urbano de Santa Eulalia' is framed within the 'Murcia.
ADN Urbano ', the intervention model of the Murcia City Council to improve the quality of life of families in the urban area, neighborhoods and districts, which collects proposals from residents and different groups to carry out improvement actions.Uniform and more accessible spacesThe area around the square has 1,100 square meters that until now were used exclusively for road traffic - they were road traffic - which will rise, creating a uniform space and making this new space available to pedestrians.
To this surface, another 130 square meters will be added for pedestrians, since the City Council is going to modify the loading and unloading area of ??the square, reorganizing the space. In this sense, the square - which currently has an area of ??1,600 square meters - will gain 1,230 m2 for pedestrians, adding up to a total of 2,830 square meters.
In addition, 370 m2 of existing sidewalks will also be renovated, which will be more accessible.
The work is expected to be completed within five months.Performances in 7 streets that surround the squareSpecifically, the planned works will be carried out in the seven streets that surround the square –Raimundo de los Reyes, San Antonio, Rambla, Mariano Vergara, Journalist Nicolás Ortega Pagá, Joaquín Costa and Cánovas del Castillo–, maintaining the design of the square.
The City Council will also modify the speed limit of this environment, going from 30 km / h to 20 km / h, to make it more friendly. The works will consist of improving the state of the renovation and widening of the sidewalks, as well as the renovation of the pavement and the layer of the road, improving the coexistence between vehicles and pedestrians in the Santa Eulalia neighborhood.
The entire environment will be raised so that the adjoining streets are at the same height as the square, creating a uniform space and eliminating cracks and potholes.Added to the aforementioned works is the renovation of the Santa Eulalia square sanitation network.
As a whole, the Consistory has allocated an injection of 239,468 euros to the work carried out in this square –186,228.57 euros for the extension of sidewalks and 53,240 euros for the renovation of the sanitation network. The wall of Santa Eulalia, characteristic element of the squareThe old wall of Murcia runs along Raimundo de los Reyes and Periodista Ortega Pagán streets, which is why the pavement in both areas will be marked, indicating the existence of the sections.
It should be remembered that in this square is the Wall Visitor Center, a benchmark of Arab defensive architecture with the opening of the Wall Visitor Center, which shows the history of the wall as it passes through Santa Eulalia.
