The City Council continues with the work to improve public lighting in different streets and districts of the municipality of Murcia, within the Murcia Smart City strategy, which advocates in this case to favor the improvement of the environment, the safety of the area and contribute to improving the quality of the residents of the municipalityThe City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration led by José Guillén, continues with the work to improve public lighting in different streets and districts of the municipality of Murcia, within the Murcia Smart City strategy, which advocates in this case to favor the improvement of the environment, the safety of the area and contribute to the improvement of the quality of the residents of the municipality.This week, the works are being carried out in Cabezo de Torres, with the replacement of about 200 light points, which go from having a total power of 16,200 W to 9,600 W, which will mean an annual economic saving of almost 3,000 euros and an energy saving of 20,700 Kwh.The new points of light that have been replaced correspond to the Gregorios road, Jaime I, Sánchez road, Alejos road, Puente de la Muleta road, Rmbla del Carmen final road, Munuera road, Campanillas road, Antonetes road, Antonazos road, Los Martínez and Los Gil street.In this way, 10,250 kilos of CO2 are also stopped being emitted into the atmosphere, reducing the environmental impact and the carbon footprint."These improvements make it possible to comply with the commitments assumed by the City Council to curb climate change, but they are also carried out with the safety of citizens on the road and on the sidewalks in mind, providing it with more light and thus making it more visible and perceptible for the neighbors "has highlighted José Guillén.The City Council installs 5,000 led streetlights in Murcia in the last year, which will save 3.4 million euros and avoid the emission of 12 million kilos of CO2The Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration has renewed in the last year more than 5,000 points of light distributed in about 200 locations in Murcia and districts.The City Council has managed to reduce 658,000 W of installed power and avoiding the emission of 1,000,000 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere.
In this way, more than 285,000 euros have been saved in the last year.Thanks to the investment made, during the useful life of these facilities, which is 12 years, 12 million kilos of CO2 will be emitted and 3,420,000 euros will be saved."In this way, the Murcia City Council assumes its commitment to curbing climate change, improving the environment and the quality of the air we breathe.
