Huermur reproaches the City Council for keeping the Costera above the Ñora wheel (06/08/2020)

Huermur reminds the mayor of Murcia José Ballesta that while he advertises and presents virtual recreations, the PGOU maintains a four-lane highway above the 15th century aqueduct of the Rueda de la Ñora in Murcia, because its City Council does not want to cancel it .The entity reminds Ballesta and the councilor of Urbanism that the BIC environment of the Rueda de la Ñora is still pending, and therefore the suspended construction licenses.

Reason why the logical thing would be to wait for the definitive protection of the Ministry of Culture, for the adaptation of the municipal projects to the definitive protection as BIC that is established, and not to start the house by the roof.Huermur regrets that the Murcia City Council continues with patches and patches, instead of forcing the Junta de Hacendados to uncover the channels of the ditches in the orchard of Murcia that were piped and concreted in a manner contrary to urban planning regulations.

Starting with Aljufía's own main canal behind the Rueda de la Ñora. The Association for the Conservation of the Huerta and the Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) reproaches the Murcia City Council for maintaining today the layout of the North Coast above the 15th century aqueduct of the Rueda de la Ñora in Murcia.

A four-lane road designed by the PGOU at the time of the former mayor Cámara, and that the current mayor Ballesta continues to maintain in the General Plan, and which plans to divide this monument in the Murcian garden in two.In the same sense, the conservationist collective reminds the mayor that the North Coast in the projected section, constitutes an incoherent infrastructure that will only serve to continue splitting and dividing the garden and to carry away the traditional garden landscape, irreparably damaging the Wheel of the Ñora.

All this, with the consequent environmental, visual, noise and pollution impact it will generate, destroying the image of the aqueduct and ending with an area of ??high cultural, archaeological and landscape value.Huermur describes the project presented today by the Murcia City Council as a worrying publicity patch, which only aims to uncover (to later cement the channel with reinforced concrete) a few meters from the Churra la Vieja and Alfatego ditches, while creating a "path green "above the rest of the piped ditches, thus consolidating those illegal pipelines contrary to the General Plan itself, which obliges to maintain the irrigation channels naturally and with its associated vegetation. The conservation group has observed with dread how the staff of the Murcia City Council has visited the Rueda de la Ñora today together with the Board of Landowners, and far from demanding the cleaning of the channels, their complete removal, and the proper maintenance of the monument de la Rueda, they have presented a very questionable project that has little to do with the natural conservation of irrigation channels, and that the only thing it intends is to landscaping and filling with concrete an area that must be renatured and valued with more sensitivity .Huermur denounces Ballesta and the Urban Planning team as irresponsible for wanting to impose the project presented today, before the legal process corresponding to the Ministry of Culture concludes, and that is to complete the modification of the BIC monument so that it collects the complete protection of the environment, and the conditions for the construction and execution of projects in it, and in the monument itself and its ditches. Finally, the entity has recalled that the irrigation ditches of the Murcian garden do not need monoliths to honor them, but rather surveillance, control, and recovery.

As well as ending uncontrolled discharges, and uncovering, naturally recovering the channels that have been hidden without meaning and contrary to urban planning legislation and the General Plan itself.
