| This environment, presided over by the bust of the historic Murcian leader, has new trees, which add to the existing ones, among the that three ficus trees that provide natural shade stand out | The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Neighborhoods and districts, Marco Antonio Fernández, and the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visited the Antonete Gálvez square in Torreagüera, a pedestrian space of 873 m2 that It has been completely renovated and it has new trees in addition to the existing ones, among which 3 large ficus trees stand out, providing natural shade and freshness to this environment."The renovation and opening of this plaza for the 9,000 residents of Torreagüera is one of the actions that are part of the Extraordinary Investment Plan in Pedanías, endowed with 14 million euros," said José Ballesta, who added that "we continue to open new areas pedestrian and healthy spaces for Murcia, putting the pedestrian at the center of decision-making, for a cleaner and more sustainable municipality ”.The works have involved the renewal of the paving with cobblestones of different formats and of the urban furniture, now having new wooden benches and turning it into a diaphanous and wide square, where residents can enjoy events, such as their patron saint festivities.

Likewise, pruning work has been carried out to unload the volume of branches that affected the houses adjacent to the plaza.This project has also included the transfer of the bust in memory of Antonio Gálvez Arce, the historic cantonal leader born in the hamlet and popularly known as Antonete Gálvez.Improved accessibilityThe plaza is divided into two heights separated by an ornamental fountain, surfaces that are now accessible via a staircase and a ramp for people with reduced mobility.
Along with this pedestrian area, there is a space reserved for vehicle parking - five battery parking spaces have been set up at the entrance to it.
