| This special unit has invested 2,450 hours of service and has carried out 4,186 actions in El Palmar, 2,042 in Espinardo and 949 in the rest of districts | The councilor for Citizen Security and Economic Management, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, this morning offered a balance of the actions of the new subgroup of the Local Police Corps that provides priority service in the district of El Palmar and in the Espinardo neighborhood since on June 17.Thus, from its creation until last Sunday, July 26, this special district unit has invested 2,450 hours of service and has carried out 7,177 actions, of which 4,186 were in El Palmar, 2,042 in Espinardo and 949 in the rest of the districts.The largest number of these actions, 1,377, were for vehicle control.Councilor Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, has indicated that "our commitment to the safety of Murcia is clear and manifest.
To the creation of this subgroup are added other initiatives that we have been carrying out for months to improve the means, both human and material, that our Local Police has.
"The City Council has expanded the Special Group on Citizen Security creating this subgroup, which allows it to provide the necessary support to patrols that act in parishes both in specific situations and in scheduled actions that require it.Specifically, the new team is made up of 14 agents, a deputy inspector and an inspector.
In total, the Special Group on Citizen Security has 59 personnel and 26 vehicles, including vans, cars and motorcycles.In this way, the functions carried out by the Special Group on Citizen Security are security controls, surveillance for compliance with the Municipal Ordinances, surveillance in theft and theft prevention in weekly markets, crime prevention in problem areas and surveillance and prevention in leisure areas.The Special Citizen Security Group carried out the following actions during 2019:-Persons detained: 512.-Persons identified: 11,583.-Control and actions with vehicles: 3,214.- Valet parking complaints: 2,346.- Valet parking complaints for disobedience: 82.-Complaints for drug possession: 1,671.-Complaints for drug use: 319.-Complaints for consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places: 1,354.-Complaints for sale of alcoholic beverages after hours: 127.-Complaints for sale of alcoholic beverages to minors: 24.-Garden surveillance: 5,602.-Weekly Market Surveillance: 117.-Teaching Center Surveillance: 1,380.Specifically, the Special Group on Citizen Security (GESC) was created in November 2001 and began its journey towards the end of that same year, to carry out in a special way all the functions related to citizen security within the Corps of the Murcia Local Police.New Barracks in Espinardo and increase in the mobile fleetThe City Council is constantly working to increase the staff, facilities and resources of the Local Police.
On June 1, 44 aspiring Local Police officers began their training at the academy.To these, 64 places are added, of which selection processes are currently being carried out, and another 16 for mobility that come from other municipalities such as Cieza, Alhama, Yecla, Jumilla or Beniel.In addition, the Governing Board of May 29 approved the project and specifications to contract the adaptation works of a premises for the creation of a new Local Police Barracks in Espinardo.This new space that will increase security in the hamlet and improve the care that the Murcia Local Police has been providing to its neighbors, will be located on Calle Mayor number 56 and will offer modern facilities adapted to the multiple procedures that are carried out out daily.It must be remembered that at the Governing Board on May 22, the hiring of 9 new vehicles was approved, while at the April 29 meeting, the acquisition of the first two electric motorcycles from the Local Police for the Ecological Patrol was approved.Likewise, last March 13 new mobile units for agents were presented: 8 motorcycles, 4 vans and a truck, which were added to the existing ones, reaching 282 units.
