Murcia, the first major city in Spain to develop a Corporate Social Responsibility report (29/07/2020)

| José Ballesta: "With this document we began a project of commitment to CSR, to listen, work, improve and be accountable to each and every one of Murcia and Murcia "| The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, presented this morning the report on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Murcia City Council for the year 2019, which has been developed by the University of Murcia (UMU) and which places the capital of the Region as the first of the seven largest cities in Spain to have this document."We promote the creation and publication of this report to render accounts on the fulfillment of the commitments that we have assumed in the field of CSR in the development of our Government action, thus becoming the first City Council of a large Spanish city to prepare a CSR report ”, highlighted José Ballesta.Until now, the only consistories that had a CSR memory were Huesca and Torrente. Triple dimension: social, environmental and economic"We started a project of commitment to CSR, to listen, work, improve and be accountable to each and every Murcian.

We are aware that our Government commitment must go through transforming and building a city of the future that observes economic and technological development with the utmost respect for nature and the protection of the most vulnerable groups, "added the councilman from Murcia during the presentation.The report translates into the systematization of the criteria, commitments and activities of the City Council in the field of CSR, in its triple dimension: economic-financial, social and environmental.The document sets out the most relevant actions that the Consistory has carried out during 2019 in CSR, "taking responsibility for what we have left to improve and committing ourselves to carry out the challenges that Murcian society demands of us," added the Murcia ruler.This initiative is one more step in transparency, making the Murcia City Council a role model of good practice both at national and European level.

It is also a document that will serve as a tool in the development of the Murcia City Model.Lines of action and list of strategic projects: Murcia Río, the Huerta Action Plan and Smart City, among othersThe report includes the strategic projects launched by the City Council, which set the lines of action for the next decade and which are developed on the following axes: sustainability and care for the environment, clean mobility, structuring of the territory, social inclusion, recovery heritage and promotion of culture and talent.Murcia Río, Murcia Smart Cirty, the Huerta Action Plan, the pedestrianization of urban spaces, the Mobility Plan, the creation of green routes and paths in the municipality, the rehabilitation and use of the Old Prison, the Pavilions Creatives of the Artillery Barracks and Medieval Murcia are some of the strategic projects promoted by the Murcia City Council that are based on the aforementioned axes.Work teamThe UMU has been in charge of developing the CSR memory for the year 2019, with a team consisting of the director of the CSR Chair, Longinos Marín, the person in charge of the CSR project in public administrations of said chair, María Dolores Abellán, and Pedro J.

The preparation, publication and presentation of this document is an action framed within the sustainable urban development policies integrated in the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda.Dialogue tables, interviews and other toolsDocument analysis - reports, projects, strategies, plans, etc.
