The Minister of Education and Culture, Esperanza Moreno, today handed over to the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of Forgiveness of Murcia the four angels of the passage of its owner, the Christ of Forgiveness, after having been restored in the Restoration Center of the Community for an amount of 18,000 euros. There are four sculptures of child angels that were made in 1930 by the sculptor Juan González Moreno.
Four effigies that were made as a complement to the new throne that the Christ of Forgiveness released that year, placing himself in a position to hold the four chandeliers.
In July 1936, the owner's throne was destroyed, but not these four angels who, along with the owner and the images of Saint John, the Sorrowful and the Magdalene, could be saved. The works were restored in the months leading up to Easter this year, but the arrival of the state of alarm prevented them from being handed over to the brotherhood.
For four months, these four effigies were treated for each of their damages, being the dirt, the detachment of strata and the mutilations the main deteriorations, with hardly any repaints or previous restorations.
"All this has resulted in that, after the restoration process, these angels look like the first day, with bright and very striking colors," according to the counselor.
