| Councilman Antonio Benito affirms that "while in other communities ratios of 20 students are expected, split between groups and teacher recruitment, here the Ministry of Education makes decisions with its back to the educational community "| The Municipal Socialist Group presents to the next plenary session a motion that aims to require the Ministry of Education to supplement with its own extraordinary funds those approved by the Government of Spain in order to face the next school year with all the guarantees of health and safety. The socialist councilor Antonio Benito warns of the "rebellion of parents and teachers, who live scared before the start of a new course that cannot be projected as if Covid had already passed, thinking of ratios of 30 students and making decisions with their backs to the educational community while other autonomous communities are expected ratios of 20 students, group splits and hiring of many teachers.
" The mayor, who recognizes "the great work and commitment of teachers and families who, in the face of a pandemic, have redoubled efforts, which has allowed, at the cost of great sacrifice, to continue the educational process." However, "the Ministry of Education has failed to rise to the occasion.
We have been able to see how, confusing freedom with the abandonment of obligations, it has transferred to directors and cloisters the responsibility of ordering the end of the course, so who have felt lonely and abandoned, using a Virtual Classroom that collapsed in a resounding way, while families have been lacking in information and burdened by having to work and teach at home and vulnerable students with tasks that were not sent back to the faculty,in addition to the painful management of the dining room scholarships by this City Council, "adds Benito, who affirms that" we cannot improvise again.
" "We already know that the best mode of transmission of the virus is to be in closed, crowded and close environments; the perfect description of what a classroom is and that children, especially from the age of 10, transmit the disease like adults However, the Ministry of Education does not contemplate group splits, nor an effective increase in teaching staff, nor adequate care for people in situations of risk or vulnerability.
"There is no money," they say with one hand, while with the other approve tax exemptions for bookmakers, "declares the socialist councilor. Likewise, remember that "the Government of Spain is going to make available to the autonomous communities COVID-19 Funds that include 2,000 million euros for Education, the launch of the Educa in Digital program with 260 million euros for digitization of centers public education and higher budget for scholarships and study grants and the Region of Murcia will be a great beneficiary, with at least about 75 million euros.
" Therefore, the Community completes this endowment with its own resources. It also proposes in the motion to reduce the ratios of male and female students per classroom to respect the minimum safety distances recommended by health authorities, to urgently implement a training plan in digital educational competence of teachers and to transfer part of the money from the COVID-19 Fund from the Government of Spain to the Murcia City Council in order to be able to cover the enormous increase in spending derived from the application of our powers in matters of cleaning and repair of centers. Finally, Antonio Benito refers to the fact that "this same Plenum requested in June that it be considered to convene the School Council of the Region of Murcia, where most of the regional educational organizations and agents are integrated.
They have not done so, we also ask a conciliation plan, but they do not say anything, let's see if this time we are luckier and we managed to get a decision of the Plenary Session of the Murcia City Council to really get going.
